Lawsuit News: Merck Rests Defense in Latest Vioxx Trial

Merck rested its defense today in the Atlantic City, N.J., Vioxx lawsuit. Closing arguments are set for Monday. The New Jersey-based drug company asserts that it acted responsibly in testing the painkiller and that the two plaintiffs’ pre-existing medical conditions were to blame, not Vioxx. The plaintiffs who allege their heart attacks were caused by Vioxx say they took the painkiller for 22 months and four years, respectively.
